I’m sure you’ve seen it. Long story short, a bakery decided to refuse to ice a cake with a pro-gay logo because of their own religious beliefs. A judge has ruled that they were guilty of discrimination.

That is utter bullshit. We have the absolute right in UK law as private business owners to ‘reserve the right to refuse service for any or no reason’. You don’t need to display a sign. You don’t need to give a reason. Your business, your right to refuse service. Simple as. So how the fuck are they even allowed to make this ruling?

I’m not saying I condone what they did in any way. I fear for the bakery in question it’s gonna end up being business suicide what with all the publicity.

But boy is that one slippery slope. I assume, then, that if a Christian run bakery can’t refuse gays, then a gay run bakery can’t refuse Christians. Logical, right?

So then you can’t refuse someone based on religious beliefs, right? So I should be able to go into a bakery and order a cake that is iced with ‘Kill All Kafir in the West!’ and they must comply?

Hmm. I think I’m gonna test that theory real soon. So should you! See how far you can go before a baker draws the line! :p

I suspect that what they actually did wrong was try to explain themselves, rather than just say ‘no, sorry’.
