Here’s another fine example of the sort of people that make me want to insert pointy things into their eyes…

People who say ‘if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear’, when applied to anything-to-do-with-privacy. Shit like police stop-and-search powers, or the ever increasing and ever invasive use of CCTV cameras in our streets, about data mining practices, about the ID card debates, or even on retaining the DNA of completely innocent people on a central database.

Irresponsible fucktards – and it IS irresponsible to NOT question authority, or to NOT be vigilant regarding your rights and freedoms – with their unshakeable belief that their governments are  benign, concerned entities who will love and protect us all. Fucktards who will sit by silently and watch the continued erosion of our civil liberties and human rights ‘for our benefit and safety’, but will self importantly chant their tired mantra like a personal accusation at anyone who dare question or voice disapproval.

Nothing to hide, nothing to fear. Stay on the right side of the law and the law will protect you.

Horseshit.

How does that other saying go? “They came first for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist”…

And that’s my only consolation, really. Knowing that if things continue down this same road – and I see no reason why they won’t – these smug puritans who have never done ‘wrong’ will one day find that the goal posts have been moved again and they suddenly belong to the wrong demographic, or have had the wrong illness, or have visited the wrong country, or have inadvertently associated with the wrong people. And they’ll be suitably fucked. Fucking good.

If I have nothing to hide then I have nothing to fear? If I have nothing to hide you shouldn’t be fucking watching me in the first place.
