Mr Incredible’s Unbelievable Unresignation Undermines UKIP

Mr Incredible

Nigel Farage, blatantly lying:

“I am a man of my word.”

Nigel Farage, actually ridiculing the untenable position he would be in if he failed to be elected in South Thanet:

“The consequences of me failing to secure a seat for myself in the Commons would be significant for both myself and the party.

It is frankly just not credible for me to continue to lead the party without a Westminster seat.

What credibility would UKIP have in the Commons if others had to enunciate party policy in Parliament and the party leader was only allowed in as a guest? [...]  read more

Diamond Geezers

This whole Hatton Garden Safety Deposit robbery stinks to high heaven. There’s a lot more going on here than we’re being told.

If it’s true that £200 million plus was left unattended over the long bank holiday weekend in a building with obviously inadequate security, then there’s definitely some tough questions to be answered.

Why didn’t the vault, at the very least, have motion or heat sensors? same for other areas of the building, including the lift shaft.

Why didn’t a place with such high value content have 24 hours, 7 days a week security guards? [...]  read more

Lets Talk Aliens!

So I’ve been thinking a lot about space stuffs recently. Partly because I saw a thing about Sigourney Weaver and a certain popular sci-fi franchise recently but largely because I’d really like to get off this rock.

It’s become infested with a particularly debilitating parasite that relentlessly consumes all of its hosts resources. What’s the best alternative to outdated tv licensing model? A mandatory tv tax, of course!

The BBC is inevitably in the news today, since the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee have published a report ahead of the debate over the renewal of the BBC’s Royal Charter.

Here’s a fairly typical set of quotes from one such article, in this case, from the Daily Mail. With my own commentary below them, obviously! :p

“The BBC is a profligate and inept organisation that has lost public trust after a series of scandals, MPs will say today.”

Yup. Absolutely true. Couldn’t agree more. Although it’s fucking hilarious for MPs to be accusing ANYONE else of being inept and having lost public trust. [...]  read more

Taking the social out of social media (forever, in some cases!)

Check out this EFF report on punishments for inmates for using social media. Which might be ever so slightly disproportionate to the offence…

“In October 2013, Tyheem Henry received 13,680 days (37.5 years) in disciplinary detention and lost 27,360 day (74 years) worth of telephone, visitation, and canteen privileges, and 69 days of good time—all for 38 posts on Facebook.”

Holy fucking fuck.
